5/8: More sun but still chilly.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For 5/8: We are into a gap as moisture wrapping back into the northwest from the high plains holds to the north. The cold settled in and luckily we saw enough residual cloud cover to keep temperatures just clear of freezing for fruit producing valleys. The trickle down of that for us still meant a pretty cold night so even with mostly sunny skies today plan on layers for a chilly start.
Temperatures: Crested Butte dropped to 11 overnight while Gunnison held to 25. Highs stay cool even with the sun at 41 for CB and 47 for Gunni. Lows tonight will gain for CB but Gunni stays in the mid 20s.
Outlook: A blocking ridge in the east will keep moisture recirculating around from this low in the high plains. This keeps most of it to the north and other side of the divide but will still allow scattered pieces over our area. Look for periods of sun mostly through the mornings with a rain snow mix depending on timing and altitude to follow. Temperatures warm steadily but remain shy of seasonal norms until later in the weekend. Plan on the classic spring mix with better weather from Sunday on.
